Central Texas no longer home to nation’s fastest-growing city, according to U.S. Census

For the first time in five years, Central Texas is not atop the annual U.S. Census list of fastest-growing U.S. cities. But Texas did continue to dominate the population growth rankings. The city of Conroe, located near Houston, increased its population by 7.8 percent between July 2015 and July 2016, ranking tops in the country above Dallas-area suburbs Frisco—6.2 percent—and McKinney—5.9 percent. Greenville, South Carolina, placed fourth with a 5.8 percent growth rate.
